Compare overlays a prior time period on a Kubit report so you can see how a metric changed. The current period and the comparison period appear in the same chart. Compare works on Query, Funnel and Data Table reports. This page covers the comparison presets, how each report type shows the comparison and the constraints.

When to use

Comparison presets

Each preset runs the same query shifted back by a fixed amount.

Custom comparison

Choose Date Range Ending At to compare against any date. Kubit takes the offset from the end of your current date range to the date you pick, then covers the same duration backward from it.

MCP prompt examples

“Show me daily event count this week compared to last week”
“Create a KPI of average latency for the last 7 days compared to the previous 7 days”

How comparison shows by report type

Query reports

In a Query report, the comparison shows differently for each chart type. Once comparison data loads, the chart legend has two toggles: Use them to see only the current data, only the comparison or both.

Funnel reports

In a Funnel report, primary data shows as solid bars and comparison data as striped bars next to them. Comparison step names start with [Previous], or [Future] for a forward-looking comparison. Every primary step has a comparison step. If a step has no comparison data, a zero-value placeholder keeps the chart aligned.

Data Table reports

In a Data Table report, each measure column splits into current and previous values side by side. Turn on Show % Change to add a column with the percent change between periods. Increases show in green and decreases in red.

MCP prompt examples

“Show me the checkout funnel this month compared to last month, broken down by platform”
“Create a data table of event count by model name this week compared to last week, with percent change”

Constraints

  • Time period: the date range that Compare shifts.
  • Data Table: the report with the percent change column.
  • Funnel: Conversion mode, where Compare works.
