# Reports overview

> The report types in Kubit Product Analytics, the question each one answers, and the settings every report shares.

A report in Kubit Product Analytics answers one question about your events. You build reports in **Explorer**, the report builder. This page lists the report types, the question each one answers, and the settings all reports share.

## Report types

| Report | Answers | Example question |
| - | - | - |
| [Query](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/query.md) | How many: counts, unique subjects and other measures over time | How many unique users sent a chat message each day last week? |
| [Funnel](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/funnel.md) | How many subjects finish an ordered sequence of steps, and where they drop off | What share of users who add to cart complete checkout? |
| [Path](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/path.md) | Which paths subjects take forward from an event, or backward to it | What do users do right after they open the pricing page? |
| [Retention](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/retention.md) | Whether subjects come back after a starting event | What share of new users return in their second week? |
| [Data Table](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/data-table.md) | Aggregated values in a table, with up to 6 measures and 5 Group By dimensions | What are sessions, orders and revenue by country and platform this month? |
| [Significance](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/significance.md) | Whether a difference between a control group and up to 2 variants is statistically significant | Did the new onboarding variant raise activation? |

[Cohorts](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/cohorts.md) are reusable groups of subjects, defined from events or from another report. Apply a cohort to any report as a filter or a breakdown.

## Settings every report shares

Most reports share the same building blocks. Each one has its own page.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| [Time period](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/common/time-period.md) | The date range and the time unit (day, week, month) |
| [Compare](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/common/compare.md) | Overlays a prior period to show how a metric changed |
| [Filters](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/common/filters.md) | Limits the report to events that match conditions |
| [Group By and binning](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/common/group-by-and-binning.md) | Splits results by a dimension, or buckets values into ranges |
| [Sampling](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/common/sampling.md) | Runs very large reports on a sample of events or subjects |

Which settings a report type supports is listed on that report's page.

## Create a report

Open **Explorer** in the left nav and pick a report type in the report builder. You can also ask a question on the **Ask** page. Kubit builds a report from the question, and **Open in Explorer** opens it in the builder. [Join your team on Kubit](https://learn.kubit.ai/start-here/user.md#steps) walks through a first report from a question.

## Save and share a report

Click **Save** in the report header to save a report. To put a report next to others, click **+ Add to Dashboard**. See [Dashboards](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/dashboards.md).
