# Funnel tips

> Duplicate funnel steps, use breakdown groups and the Overall switch, reorder steps and extend a Kubit funnel's time window.

These tips cover duplicating steps, breakdown groups, reordering steps and extending a funnel's time window. [Funnel report](https://learn.kubit.ai/product-analytics/reports/funnel.md) has every option.

## Duplicate funnel steps

To reuse a complex step for the next one, open the step's options menu and click **Duplicate Step**. Then change what's different in the copy.

## Use breakdown groups

With a breakdown, a funnel shows results by the **Starting** or **Global** value of the breakdown group across the steps. This shows which attribute or content leads to conversion. There are two ways to compare:

| Compare | When |
| - | - |
| Breakdown groups against each other | Every user falls into at least one group |
| Each group against **Overall** | You want the total conversion rate for all users as a baseline |

To show **Overall**, turn on the **Overall** switch (it turns blue). An **Overall** group appears next to the breakdown groups.

## Compare conversion rates across groups

To compare several groups over time, show the most important breakdown groups side by side and hide the rest. Comparing against **Overall** shows the change against the baseline.

## Reorder steps

Drag a step to reorder it. Drag and drop works when the funnel's order is **Sequence** or **Exact**.

## Extend the time window

At the bottom of the funnel chart controls, a dropdown set to **Event** has a **+** option for a number of days. Use it to give a funnel a longer conversion window. For example, to measure trial to renewal, extend the time from the trial event by a number of days.

| Option | What it counts | Example |
| - | - | - |
| **Event** | Conversion from the date the user performed the first step. Adding days extends the conversion window. | Set **Partition** to **None** and add extended time. Results group by the date of the first step's event, and later steps count until the end of the date range plus the extended time. |
| **Install** | Users who installed your product during the selected date range | **Install** with 0 days means the user installed and performed step 1 on the same day. **Install** with 30 means the user installed and performed step 1 within days 0 to 30. |
